When Chris Whitley died in November 2005 I was saddened. Chris ‘s album Living With the Law was a seminal album for me and Swamp Dance is dedicated to Chris’s memory. Whitley achieved modest mainstream success, but changed his sound frequently, with a small but devoted following. I aspire to do the same in my career. Swamp Dance falls into a brand of confessional acoustic and electric blues, mixed with rock. The lyrics contain overt sexual and religious references and border on the surreal. Chris would have dug this song.
