Drive is the title track from Michael's most recent all-original album. "As I worked on this song I wanted to find a joyful experience most Americans shared. I believe that throughout our lifetimes many of our happiest moments are preceded or followed by a Drive. This is an autobiographical song and tells three true stories about very precious moments in my life." This song has also been authored for inclusion into the Rockband/Guitar Hero Network and will be available to play on PlayStations and XBoxes when the album is dropped.
Thinking back I remember Christmas eve in 65
Me an lil brother in the back of the Chrysler with mom and dad on a drive
Headed to Auntie Mel and Uncle Bill’s for dinner and some holiday lights
It was 5 o’clock, it was already dark, the winter chill was setting outside.
No other place we’d rather be, than all together as a family, on a drive
Sweet 16 growing up in the suburbs, man I was trying to be cool
Dad’s Super Beatle was my first ride and sometimes he let me drive it to school
I saved my money, went to an auction, and bought me a 64 Scout
It was Cal-Trans orange, it had three on the floor, and in the summer the top could come off
Those teenage years the road never ends
no place I’d rather be than with my friends, on a drive, on a drive
Driving down the road singing along, 8 track playing all night long on a drive
Oh some say the road goes on forever
Some say the road will never end
Finding our way through out our lives alone and together and on we drive, on we drive
Met my Cherie in 98, pretty soon I knew she was the one
A few years later I found the courage, I proposed in 2001
Had the night planned driving into the City man, we were running late
I asked for her hand right there stuck in traffic, you know I just couldn’t wait
No other place I’d rather be, than with my sweet bride to be
On a drive,on a drive
No other place I’d rather be, than with my sweet Cherie
On a drive on a drive
Those teenage years the road never ends
no place I’d rather be than with my friends
on a drive, on a drive
No other place we’d rather be, than all together as a family, on a drive, on a drive
